Masaru Emoto

Masaru Emoto

Masaru Emoto (1943-2014), a Japanese researcher, left a lasting impression with his unconventional experiments on water, which he claimed was sensitive to human influence. In his book Messages from Water (1999), he suggested that thoughts, words, and emotions could alter the structure of frozen water crystals. According to his observations, positive intentions, such as the word 'love,' produced beautiful, symmetrical crystals, while negative terms resulted in disordered shapes. Though lacking robust scientific validation and criticized for their methodology, his ideas sparked a fascinating debate about water’s lesser-known properties. Emoto thus popularized a poetic and controversial perspective on this essential element, inspiring curiosity and out-of-the-box thinking.
