I have often been told that if you want clients, you have to prospect. For my case, it's a bit different and I will explain the two main reasons.

First, a web project is important for the development of a company. Especially today. It is essential for some companies to review their strategy and invest in management and communication tools. However, there is nothing worse than prospecting a manager who is not ready for change or to invest money and time in their company's website.

I have enough confidence in the long-term value of my service. I prefer to let clients come to me. I want to work with people who are ready to invest in their project and turn to me to solve a specific problem.

And in my case as well, I have a technical profile. I develop a solution. It is much more relevant for me to continue to develop my technology as all websites benefit from it (in terms of performance and general customer experience).

I have a lot of respect for salespeople, who can sometimes face awkward situations.

I also prefer to attract clients through the channels I target, mainly natural referencing. So far, all my web development clients have come to me through word of mouth, I didn't even have a website at the time.

Today, there are many platforms that allow service providers and project holders to connect, including international platforms. There are also marketplaces that bring together a multitude of bids. This is where I will position myself in the long term. For my part, I have currently selected Codeur and France Marchés.

Competition on this kind of platform is tough, a single project can receive dozens of detailed proposals, and companies are in competition with other structures that do not have the same charges at all. This is precisely the advantage of the economic model of my activity.

If you are a project holder, I strongly advise you to publish your project on one of these sites. Generally, it will be free for you. You will receive several quotes that will allow you to estimate the average budget it will cost you and possibly find the service provider that suits you. This will also be an opportunity to define your project well if it is not yet the case. However, be careful not to abuse the time of the service providers you solicit.
